We jump to define Artificial Intelligence without defining Intelligence. A short definition of Intelligence can be, something that can learn, adapt, and predict. Now what does Learning mean?
The Nature of Learning
Learning is, essentially, the process through which an entity — human, animal, or machine — acquires, modifies, and improves upon knowledge or skills through experiences or observations. It’s the foundation of adaptive behavior and meaningful decision-making.
Let’s break it down:
- Adaptation through Experience: Learning involves adjusting one’s behavior or knowledge based on past interactions. For example, a human learns not to touch a hot stove after getting burned, while a machine might adjust an algorithm based on incorrect predictions.
- Knowledge Acquisition and Improvement: Learning isn’t just the accumulation of data or facts. It’s about the capacity to not only remember but also to use information to improve performance or solve problems in novel ways. This aspect of learning differentiates intelligent behavior from simple reflexes or…
